In Conversation - Artist of the Month Angela Schütz and Dr Paul Rennie

£0.00

Angela Schütz

is a mixed media artist and psychologist whose work is inspired by the rich tapestry of human experience and materials and objects picked from everyday life. Having decades of practice in exploring the psychology of our inner worlds, her particular interest is with those parts of the psyche that don't show up easily; that feel shy or even scary. In her artistic projects she looks for ways of invoking, expressing and celebrating these parts through words, images and objects.

Dr Paul Rennie

has over twenty years of experience in teaching design at Central Saint Martins in London

and is widely acknowledged as an authority on the material culture of art and design. In Folkestone he is a familiar presence in the Creative Quarter where in The Old High Street he helps his wife Karen run Rennies Seaside Modern. This is also where he first met Angela when she turned up to show her work.

It is the love for 'objects with a history' that connects Paul and Angela. Objects that can speak to us across time and space of ideas, identity and memory, and in doing so hold meaning far beyond the object's material existence, its beauty or usefulness. The Wardrobe is home of a small universe of those objects. Together Paul and Angela will explore what they might speak of.
